Paul Harris

Bio

Paul Harris enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1950 because it was the patriotic thing to do. He completed basic training in San Antonio, Texas, and a short stint at a technical school in Mississippi. While in Germany and France, he worked in the transportation outfit supplying supplies and resources for contractors. During his time in Germany, he bonded with one family and stayed connected with them after his discharge from the service.

Protection On and Off the Base

Paul Harris explains how Polish soldiers provided the protection of the base in Germany. He comments on the Polish soldiers not having problems guarding the base because they were not fond of the Germans. He notes how, when they headed into town, they were accompanied by either French or German protection and this reduced the problems they encountered off of the base.
