Homer W. Mundy

Bio

Homer Mundy enlisted in the U.S. Army after finishing school and trained as an Infantryman before receiving advanced instruction as a Transportation Mechanic. When the Korean War broke out in 1950, he deployed to the Korean peninsula with the 2nd Infantry Division. Just 13 days after arriving, he was wounded in combat—the first of two injuries he sustained during his service. Despite the dangers, he continued to serve with distinction, earning the Presidential Unit Citation, Expeditionary Ribbon, and Bronze Star. After being wounded a second time, he was sent back to the United States to recover. He continued his military service at Camp Cook, California, where he trained new soldiers heading to Korea.
