Hernan Garcia Ontibon

Bio

Hernan Garcia Ontibon served as part of the Colombian forces during the Korean War. At the time of the interview, he was serving as President of the Colombian Association of Korean War Veteran Officers (ASCOVECOR). This organization, with support from the Korean embassy in Colombia, assists Korean War veterans in Colombia. Although he has not been able to return to Korea, he is immensely proud of the role he and his fellow Colombians played in the war. He believes the success of Korea is partly due to the intervention of United Nations forces, including the Colombian troops on the peninsula.
