John Denning (78) was born in Virginia, Minnesota. He was in high school before enlisting in December 1951. He arrived in Suwon, K-13, in January 1953. He was stationed there as a part of the 51st FIW, as an ABC upon entering and a MSGT upon discharge. His specialty was in the air force supply, as well as combat laundry. He received the Commendation medal for his efforts and commitments. He left Korea in December 1953 and went to Japan, staying a part of the military. After he was discharged on June 30, 1973, he went to Washington State. He says the most memorable experience of the war for him was being a Bed Check Charlie, as well as says what impacted him most was the devastation of Korea. His hobbies now include fishing.
