Charles Rhodes Hoak (81) was born in Rock Enon Springs. He had been a highway and bridge trainee inspector before he was drafted on September 16, 1952 in Winchester, VA. His military service carried out from September 1952 to July 21, 1954. During his service period, he arrived first in Incheon, and was later stationed at the Punch Bowl area from January 1953 to June 1954. He served in the Co. C, 1343rd Engineer Combat Bn. as a S, and then a SGT before his discharge. As a combat engineer, he built roads and bridges up to the battle fronts. He received the Korean War Medal, the National Dep., the UN Service medal, the 50th Year Commemoration from the South Korean President, the Korean Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and a citation for his commitments. After returning to the United States, he went to Washington DC for school and work. His current hobbies include farming.
