Al D'Agostino (85) was born in Rochester, NY and was working as a signal tower operator of NY Central Railroad when he was drafted in January 1949. His military service was carried out from 1949 to November 1952. During his service period, he went to Pusan, Korea (January 1951) and was stationed in the 518th Radio Relay Company, GHQ Long Lines, 8th Army. He served as a corporal in two campaigns in 1951, specializing in Signal Corps. Communications. For his commitments, he received an ROK Presidential Unit Citation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, UN Medal, Korean Service Medal, National Defense Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Korea Service Ribbon, and a UN South Korea Service Ribbon among others. Among the friends he remembers is Sal Lodosee. After returning from rotation, he returned to work at NY Central Railroad. After he was discharged, he enrolled in University or Rochester and then Cornell University, where he received his BS. He is now a member of the KWVA, Chapter 215.
