Lewis H. Ebert (82) was born in Winchester, VA., and had just graduated from high school when he enlisted in June, 1949. He arrived in Taegu on September 16, 1950, and was stationed at the K-2 Air force in Taegu as a part of the 49th fighter/bomber wing. He was a staff SGT and was in charge of supplies. For his commitments, he received the National Defense, Good Conduct, US Service, Korean Presidential Citation, US Presidential unit citation, and Korean Service medal. He remembers his friend Kenny Horwer and Joe Morin. He returned to the US on February 6, 1952, and was assigned to Eglin Air Base in Florida. He was discharged on December 5, 1952, and afterwards began to work at the Winchester Star. His hobbies now include reading.
